Minutes of the Meeting of the Parish Council held on 3 August 2016 at 7.30 pm in Sticklepath Village Hall.

Tawburn House, Sticklepath – application for change of use and alterations to include change to single storey extension. Lloyd Thomas and Kay Loram had attended to answer any questions the Council and members of the public might have. Mr Thomas set out the changes they would make to the property. The flat roof on the single storey extension would be changed to a pitched roof. There would be a reconfiguring of rooms as dividing walls had been put in when it was turned into a residential home to create more bedrooms. It would be taken back to the original number of bedrooms. They would be leaving the lift in as, after some consideration, felt it would be useful if an elderly relative or disabled person was to have accommodation on the top floor.
Cllr Cruse asked whether they felt there would be sufficient parking space for a house. Mr Thomas explained that there was enough space for 3 vehicles to park. The lean to style porch area may also be removed and replaced with a smaller porch which would create a little more space in the outside area. Councillors commented that when the property was a residential home the majority of the staff and visitors would park out on the road.
There were no objections from members of the public and it was noted that they felt the property was becoming an eyesore due to its deterioration.
Councillors unanimously supported the application and a letter would be sent to Dartmoor National Park setting out the following reasons for support:
• The property was originally built, and used, as a residential premises – this application is to restore its use to that original purpose
• There are sufficient parking spaces for a house but not a business
• The property has been empty for 2 years and there has been no interest to take it on as a business premises
