Sticklepath Heritage Group
Are you interested in the history of our village?
The Parish Council has agreed to convene a Heritage or Local History Group to bring together interested residents, neighbours and some of the enthusiasts who have worked to research and archive materials about the village and surrounding areas.
The first meeting is on Tuesday 2nd February, 7.30 in the Village Hall.
If you have documents, stories or photos to share or if you are interested in researching more about the village and preserving our heritage, you would be most welcome.
We have so many local assets which can be better understood and cared for, including very old pubs, the Ladywell, the White Rock, the Quaker Burial Ground, Finch Foundry, the large wheel-pit, “The Honest Man” Stone, the Trafalgar way and the steep old Sticklepath itself. How much do we know about Tom Pearce and his old grey mare ?
There are also many stories and memories of the village from the past that helps to make it what it is today – these shouldn’t be lost.
Some excellent work has been supported in neighbouring parishes, so we hope to learn from their experience. If you are interested, contact us or come along to the meeting.
