Stagecoach has announced better buses are replacing the existing fleet of its long distance 6/6A route, connecting Bude and Launceston with Okehampton and Exeter.
The double decker buses, which started going into service this week, all feature high backed leather effect seats and have lower emission Euro 5 engines.
Stagecoach is also seeking feedback on the service and how it can best meet the needs of residents in Launceston and Bude. Additional links to these locations were introduced in August 2015 however they have not translated into high enough passenger numbers to make the route sustainable in its current form.
To address this, the company is proposing a number of timetable changes. Key features such as an hourly daytime service between Exeter and Okehampton and a 30 minute peak frequency will be maintained, as will connections with the national rail network at Exeter St David’s, although times may change by a few minutes.
A draft timetable has been posted online at www.stagecoachbus.com/6service. After reviewing, any customer comments should be submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Friday 8 December. Whilst all feedback is welcome, Stagecoach will not be able to respond to everyone individually. The final timetable will then be introduced from Monday 4 February 2018.
